Caption: Sir Joseph Banks (1743-1820), English naturalist and botanist. Banks took part in Captain James Cook's first great voyage (1768-1771). This engraving shows Banks wearing the insignia of the Order of the Bath (1795) and states that he is a baronet (Bart, 1781).
