Caption: Nikolai Nikolayevich Vorozhtsov (1907-1979), Russian-Soviet organic chemist. Vorozhtsov was born in Tomsk and graduated from the Moscow Technical High School. He is best known for his work on the aromatic organic compounds (those based on the six-carbon benzene ring), notably nucleophilic reactions. In his later work he developed novel methods of producing fluoroaromatic compounds, many of which have industrial uses. Photographed in 1962.
