Caption: Sayano-Shushenskaya dam accident clean up. Workers cleaning up the main turbine hall at the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station, Russia, after an accident in 2009. On 17th August the No.2 turbine suffered vibrations that led to its failure. Several bolts of its cover were missing and many more had fatigue cracks, so the cover failed and the generator hall was flooded with high-pressure water. 74 people died in the accident. Some 40 tonnes of lubricant oil were also released into the Yenisei River. Sayano-Shushenskaya is the largest power generation site in Russia and the sixth largest hydro power station in the World. Photographed on 3 September 2009.
