Caption: Cosmonauts before flight. Two of the crew of Soyuz TMA-16 to the International Space Station (ISS) seen just before launch. At left is Maksim Viktorovich Surayev (b.1972), Russian cosmonaut and mission commander, at right waving is Jeffrey Williams (b.1958), American astronaut and flight engineer. Mission TMA-16 was launched on 30 September 2009 carrying the crew to the ISS. Surayev and Williams joined the crew of Expedition 21/22 and remained on the Space Station until 18 March 2010. The TMA-16 flight also carried Canadian entrepreneur Guy Laliberte to the ISS, he returned to Earth after 10 days with the Expedition 20 crew.
