Leonardo's plan for canals in a town

Rights Managed

In the 1480s the series of plagues in Milan caused Leonardo da Vinci to present town planning solutions to assist the city's development and to prevent further epidemics. His radical concept was to have a canal network as a primary circulation system together with wider streets. This would decrease congestion, improve the flow of goods and services and facilitate waste disposal to improve the hygiene of the city.
