Caption: Steep reef edge, where the reef plunges from the shallows to deeper water. Such drop offs are often teeming with life, due to upwellings and strong currents. Corals cannot grow below 50-60 metres due to lack of light for their symbiotic algae, so the base of a drop off is often barren compared to the top. Filmed in the Caribbean Sea.
