Caption: Harlequin sweetlips fish (Plectorhinchus chaetodonoides) receiving the attention of a cleaner wrasse (Labroides dimidiatus). Cleaner wrasse are small fish that have developed a symbiotic understanding with much larger fish. Their colouration and movement patterns allow their client fish to recognise them, after which the client opens its mouth and gills, allowing the wrasse to pick parasites from its skin. The cleaners tend to congregate at specific locations on a reef, known as cleaning stations, where the client fish learn to go for a clean. Filmed in Tubbataha, The Philippines.
