Caption: RNA transcription. Computer artwork showing transcription of RNA (ribonucleic acid) within a human cell. Transcription is the process of creating a complementary RNA copy of a sequence of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid, blue). During transcription the DNA sequence is 'unzipped' (centre right) and 'read' by an RNA polymerase enzyme (whitish), which then produces the complementary strand of RNA by combining the appropriate nucleotides.
