Caption: Radiation-measuring equipment at Kew Observatory. This apparatus was loaned by the Harwell Laboratory of the UK Atomic Energy Authority (AEA). It is designed to record surface radioactivity. Kew Observatory, established in 1769, was an astronomical and geophysical observatory. It included equipment operated by the Met Office, the UK's national weather monitoring and forecasting service. Observations were carried out here until 1980, when the Met Office facilities were relocated. Kew Observatory is located in Old Deer Park, Richmond, London, UK. Photographed on 22 February 1967.
