Caption: Red deer stag (Cervus elaphus), in November, in the North West Highlands Geopark, Scotland. The red deer is the UK's largest native land animal, with the male (stag) standing nearly two metres tall. In the background is Kyleskue Bridge, which carries the A894 road over the sea at Loch Glencoul, Sutherland, in Scotland's Highland region. The North West Highlands Geopark was designated by UNESCO in 2004. Geoparks are designated for the scientific importance of their geological features.
