Caption: Common guillemots (Uria aalge) in a breeding colony on a cliff ledge. The one at lower left is incubating an egg (green). This seabird lays a single egg on bare rock and incubates it for around 30 days, with both parents taking turns. The common guillemot inhabits islands, cliffs and rocky shores in the northern Pacific and Atlantic oceans. It dives to catch its prey of fish, crustaceans and squid. Photographed in May, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
