Cleidocranial dysplasia, 3D CT scan. Side view 3D cone beam computed tomography (CT) scan of a patient suffering cleidocranial dysplasia. This is a hereditary congenital disorder that causes deformities in the skeleton and teeth. The image above shows multiple supernumerary (more than normal) and impacted (un-erupted) teeth in both the upper and lower jaws. This image was produced using a cone beam CT scanner. Cone beam scanners are faster and use much lower dose radiation levels compared with conventional CT scanners. Data is converted by computer into 3D animated models.
