Caption: Cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova (born 1937). Tereshkova was the first woman in space, making her only flight on the Vostok 6 mission of 16-19 June 1963. She worked as the head of the Russian Center of International Scientific and Cultural Relations from 1994 to 2004. Photographed in Moscow, Russia, on 12th June 2003.
