Caption: Cosmonauts and the Indian Prime Minister. Prime Minister of the Republic of India Indira Gandhi (1917-1984) visiting Star City, Moscow, Russia. Next to her are Cosmonauts Valentina Tereshkova (born 1937, left) and Svetlana Savitskaya (born 1948). Tereshkova was the first woman in space, making her only flight on the Vostok 6 mission of 16-19 June 1963. Savitskaya flew onboard Soyuz T-7 in 1982, becoming the second woman in space. Photographed on 23rd September 1982.
