Russian Cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova (born 1937) presenting American astronaut Neil Armstrong (1930-2012) with a badge in memory of his visit to the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, Star City, Moscow, Russia. Tereshkova was the first woman in space, making her only flight on the Vostok 6 mission of 16-19 June 1963. Armstrong was commander of the US Apollo 11 mission, which was launched on 16th July 1969 and landed in the Sea of Tranquillity on the Moon on 20th July 1969. Photographed in Moscow, Russia on 1st June 1970.
