Caption: Camelina sativa, seedpods. This plant , also known as Gold of Pleasure, is a member of the Cruciferae family. The image shows a plant that has grown past the flowering stage to produce ripe seed pods ready for harvesting. The seeds contain oil which are high in essential fatty acids such as alpha- linoleic acid and linoleic acid. These omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are beneficial for human heart and cardiovascular health. Camelina is also used as animal feed and the oil for cosmetics and paints.
