Caption: Nesting gentoo penguin (Pygoscelis papua) tending its eggs. This penguin lays two eggs and the parents alternate feeding trips with incubation and care for the chicks once hatched. They also need to stay vigilant to ward off skuas, predatory birds that try to eat the eggs and chicks. Photographed on Cuverville Island, off the Antarctic Peninsula.
