Caption: Venus. Synthetic aperture radar map of the surface of Venus, showing the 20-kilometre wider Adivar impact crater. Rough areas appear bright, flat ones dark. This crater is located north of the western Aphrodite highland near the equator, 76 degrees eastern longitude. The horseshoe-shaped streaks are believed to be produced by interaction with the dense atmosphere's strong winds. This map was created using data gathered by the Magellan radar-mapping spacecraft.
