Caption: Bill Anders (born 1933). Portrait of the US astronaut William Alison Anders. Anders was the lunar module pilot for NASA's Apollo 8 mission (21-27 December 1968). Along with his Apollo 8 crewmates Frank Borman and Jim Lovell, he was one of the first three persons to have left Earth orbit and travelled to the Moon. On 24th December 1968, during the Apollo 8 mission, he took the famous 'Earthrise' picture. Photographed in 2011.
