Caption: Fuel microbial contamination test. Researcher carrying out a test for fuel microbial contamination using the FUELSTAT (tm) resinae product from Conidia Bioscience. This test is used by airlines, shipping companies and navies to detect the 'diesel bug'. Both the kerosene used in aircraft and the diesel used in boats, are susceptible to microbial growth in fuel tanks that can adversely affect the fuel quality. This test card is being used to test marine fuel. The results (high and low) are the lines in the windows. The tests are: Hormoconisresinae (H res), Yarrowialipolytica (Fungi) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Bacteria).
