Caption: ESA astronauts training in free-fall. Alexander Gerst (born 1976), German astronaut, using a treadmill in free fall conditions with colleagues watching. This training is taking place in an aircraft in a parabolic trajectory designed to provide a few seconds of free-fall. European Space Agency training is conducted on the Zero-G Airbus. Gerst has not yet been into space, but was selected as an astronaut by the ESA in 2009 and is scheduled to travel to the International Space Station in 2014.
