Caption: Pear. Woodcut artwork of a late pear (harvested late in the growing season), collected in Balde, Germany. This artwork is from 'Historia novi et admirabilis' (1598) by the Swiss botanist and naturalist Johann Bauhin (1541-1613). The fourth volume of this work included artworks of cultivated fruit, with 60 of apples and 41 of pears.
