Cavendish, who was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1727, received its Copley Medal in 1757 for his work on thermometers that recorded maximum and minimum temperatures. This page is from volume 50 (1757-8) of the journal 'Philosophical Transactions', published by the Royal Society of London.
