Caption: Electrical experiment. 18th-century journal page illustrating an electrical experiment described in a letter from the Italian priest and physicist Giovanni Battista Beccaria (1716-1781) to the US scientist Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790). This page is from volume 51 (1759-60) of the journal 'Philosophical Transactions', published by the Royal Society of London. Both Beccaria and Franklin were elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1755 and 1756 respectively.
