Caption: Weather chart transmission. Met Office employee using a Mufax machine, an early type of fax (facsimile) machine designed to send and receive weather charts. This machine is being operated at the London Weather Centre, Penderel House, High Holborn. The London Weather Centre, which opened in 1959, had moved here in January of 1965, the year this photograph was taken. It was part of the Met Office, the UK's national weather monitoring and forecasting service. The London Weather Centre was at this location from 1965 to 1992.
