Caption: Met Office radar scanner. Roof-mounted radar scanner on a Met Office building. This type of radar scanner is used to detect heavy rain and storm clouds within a radius of several hundred kilometres. The scanner display tube is inside the building, adjacent to the forecast room. The Met Office is the UK's national weather monitoring and forecasting service. Photographed in Bracknell, on the roof of the headquarters for the Met Office. These headquarters were constructed between 1959 and 1962, and were located here until 2003.
