Caption: Charles Fabry (1867-1945). Portrait of the French physicist Maurice Paul Auguste Charles Fabry, on a ship. Fabry is most famous for his joint discovery of the ozone layer with Henri Buisson in 1913. He worked mainly in the fields of optics and spectroscopy and in 1904 was appointed Professor of Physics at the University of Marseille. He discovered an explanation for the phenomenon of interference fringes and, together with Alfred Perot, invented the Fabry-Perot interferometer.
