Caption: Georges Pouchet (1833-1894), French naturalist. Pouchet, the son of the naturalist Felix Pouchet, worked as an anatomist at the Museum of Natural History in Paris, France. He later became professor of comparative anatomy (1879-1894) at the same institution. He also wrote on zoology, anthropology, and osteology, and took part in polar explorations. Artwork from the 13th volume (first period of 1894) of the French popular science weekly 'La Science Illustree'.
