Caption: Microsphere filter. Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a chemically imprinted polymer microsphere in a fibre mesh. This microscopic sphere has been chemically treated to bind to certain chemicals as a means of removing them from drinking water. Multiple spheres are bound to fibres to form a fibre mat so they can be used as a filter. Magnification: x4,670 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
