Caption: Iguanodon reconstruction. Drawing by the British palaeontologist Gideon Mantell (1790-1852) of the skeleton of an Iguanodon dinosaur. Gideon mistakenly placed the spike-like thumb on the nose, thinking it was a horn. This misunderstanding persisted for many years.
