Caption: Posture in children, 19th-century photograph. Lines have been drawn on the photograph showing the position of the backbone and shoulder blades, and the triangle formed by lines running between the shoulders, neck and ears. Similar diagrams on photographs of the same child while seated were used to illustrate good and bad posture. Artwork from the 18th volume (second period of 1896) of the French popular science weekly 'La Science Illustree'.
