Caption: Timelapse thermographic comparison of an incandescent lightbulb (left) and an energy-saving compact fluorescent lightbulb (right). Thermography shows the temperature of an object, on a scale from dark blue (coldest) through green, yellow and red to white (hottest). These bulbs have been turned on and left for ten minutes. The incadescent bulb gets a lot hotter than the energy-saving bulb. Energy lost as heat is wasted, and this clip reveals that the energy-saving bulb does not waste as much energy.
