Caption: Cynognathus synapsid skull fossil. The extinct synapsid (mammal-like reptile) Cynognathus was a carnivore that lived during the Early to Middle Triassic, 245 to 237 million years ago. Its head was around 30 centimetres long, with jaws that contained the sharp teeth of a predator.
