European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) in snow, feeding on plant stems. This herbivorous mammal is native to Europe but has been introduced to many regions worldwide, and has also been extensively domesticated. Wild rabbits in Europe live in underground warrens, emerging to feed on grass, though browsing for other plants as well. When the ground is covered in snow, stems may be the only food available. Photographed in December, in Scotland.
