Caption: Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV, lower left) boosting the International Space Station (ISS), stereo artwork. This unmanned resupply vehicle is used by the European Space Agency to supply the International Space Station (ISS). After being released in orbit it uses its thrusters to dock with the ISS. It is also used to boost the ISS to reverse orbit degradation. After being loaded with waste, it separates and de-orbits, burning up in Earth's atmosphere. Two ATVs have been launched (2008 and 2011) with three more planned for 2012, 2013, and 2014. This image is designed to be viewed through 3D red-cyan glasses.
