Caption: Fossilised dinosaur claw. Fossilised claw from the upper limb of the troodontid dinosaur Saurornithoides. This extinct animal was a predatory maniraptoran (long-armed) dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period (around 65 to 100 million years ago) and could reach a length of 2 to 3 metres. It was a fast runner, with excellent hearing and sight, and is considered a close predecessor of birds. This claw was found in Mongolia, and measures about 55 mm long.
