Caption: Fossilised dinosaur claw. Fossilised claw from the hind leg of a Velociraptor dinosaur. This small carnivorous theropod reached just under 2 metres in length and stood around a metre tall. It was an aggressive and agile predator that lived between 80 and 70 million years ago, in the late Cretaceous period. This large hooked claw, known as the 'killing claw', would have been lethal to its prey. This specimen was found in Mongolia, and measures about 50 mm long.
