Caption: Methane storage system. Computer artwork showing the development of a methane storage system from corncob waste. The corncobs are processed into briquettes that contain networks of pores and channels that can hold a high density of methane at a relatively low pressure (around 3.5 Megapascals). This allows the methane tanks to be smaller, have thinner walls, and increases the number of possible shapes. These improvements make methane a much more viable fuel for smaller vehicles. Methane is an abundant fuel that is cleaner burning than petrol.
