Caption: Millipede head. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the head of a millipede from Barbados. Millipedes (class Diplopoda) have elongated bodies with two pairs of legs on each body segment. Some species have up to 197 legs. They are slow-moving herbivores, feeding mainly on dead and decaying plant matter. Magnification: x50 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
