Caption: Reduction of potassium dichromate. Seven test tubes all containing potassium dichromate. In its ordinary dissolved state (+6 oxidation state) potassium dichromate is orange. However, in some of these tubes it has been reduced to a +3 oxidation state and is a deep olive green colour.
