Caption: View of the extremely polluted Nasha River, Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Up until the 1960s, the river was polluted by runoff from paper and dye factories, notoriously turning various colors from the dye. Eventually water treatment plants were constructed and the river is now largely restored.
