Caption: Skulls unearthed from the Hallstatt cemetery in the charnel house of St. Michael's Parish. The Austrian town of Hallstatt, and the cemetery along with it, is restricted in size by a mountain and a lake (called the Hallst tter See). This resulted in the practice (now defunct) of digging up bones periodically to make room for new burials.
