Caption: Alex ('Albert') Venediktovich Ignatenko (b.1943), Ukrainian parapsychologist. Ignatenko specialises in the so-called 'bio-energy', a kind of life force that permeates people, entering and leaving their bodies through special points known as chakras. Ignatenko is supposedly capable of channelling this bio-energy to affect other people, even knocking them over. There are claims that Ignatenko was forced to perform research into such abilities by the former Soviet authorities, indeed he was a member of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Photographed in 1989.
