Caption: Coca plant, Erythroxylum coca. Cocaine is made from this plant, but Andean natives use the raw leaves or a tea made from them as a mild stimulant. Native to the eastern slopes of the Andes Mountains, Peru and Bolivia. A characteristic of this genus is the longitudinal vein on each side of the mid rib. Photographed growing near Agua Caliente, Peru.
