Caption: Triceratops skull. 3D model of a Triceratops horridus fossil skull, found in Wyoming, USA, and dating from 70 million years ago. Triceratops was a dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period. It was a herbivorous dinosaur with a distinctive set of horns and a neck shield. It could reach a length of up to nine metres, with the two main horns up to a metre long. A smaller horn was present on the snout. This scan was made in 2011, with a handheld laser scanner from the Creaform company. This specimen is held in the palaeontology gallery at the French National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), Paris, France.
