Caption: The human lower jaw bone or mandible is the largest and strongest bone in the face. The actions of the teeth are controlled by the jaw, which can clamp the teeth together with great force, up to 500 kg/sq. cm. About two-thirds of every tooth is composed of root and is buried in the jaw. The small hole is the entrance to the mental canal that is used in dentistry for injections to numb the mental nerve.
