Caption: Bronze crystal structure. Bronze is a metal alloy of copper (orange) and tin (grey). During the alloying process, regions of tin, which has a different crystal structure to copper, become incorporated into the copper lattice. Although the proportions vary, bronze is usually around 12% tin and 88% copper. It is a good conductor of heat and electricity and is resistant to corrosion by seawater.
