Quantum dot sample under UV light

Quantum dot sample under UV light

Rights Managed

Quantum dot sample seen in ultraviolet (UV) light. This sample consists of a solution of cadium selenide (CdSe), which is responding to the ultraviolet light by emitting visible light. Such solutions can be engineered to specific wavelengths, and are used for applications such as tracers (quantum dots). This sample has a wavelength of 610 nanometres, which corresponds to a colour of red on the spectrum of visible light. Sample courtesy Nanoco Technologies.
