Strontium. Sample of strontium (Sr), an alkaline earth metal element from group 2 of the periodic table. In elemental form, it is soft silvery-white metallic element. It is extremely reactive, and burns with a bright red flame, igniting in powdered form. It is used in fireworks to produce a red colour. It has a melting point of 777 degrees Celsius.
