Caption: Analogue computing. Operators at the controls of the MAVR electric analogue computer. This kind of computer uses electrical flow to model the flow of water in a municipal distribution system, in which voltage is equivalent to water pressure and current is equivalent to flow rate. Modern techniques rely on numerical modelling using digital computers. Photographed at the Pamfilov Academy of Municipal Engineering at Moscow, Russia, in 1971.
